1. i'm very much in love with sleep. i dont ever feel like i've gotten enough and some days i really do try to sleep the day away.

3. at one point in my elementary school days i wanted to grow up to be a basketball player. and now, i hate watching basketball (i blame it mostly on the sound of the sneakers on the floor, it kinda has that nail on chalkboard effect for me)

4. when im sad i cant eat. its not so much that i dont want to, but that i just cannot force myself to eat- i start to feel sick if i do

5. i lovelovelovelovelove coca-cola, but i gave it up almost a month ago. apparently its bad for you... lol i still drink it once in a blue moon and it kinda does sadden me to have given it up, but ive lost some weight because of it and it really did mess up my stomach, so it worked out for the best

6. i dont like cats. i dont have a problem being around them, but i never ever ever want any. ive cat sit a few times and they honestly just freak me out. im always afraid they're going to claw out my eyes or just attack me for no reason. i prefer dogs :)

7. i only have 1 sibling, a half sister. there's about a 12 year age difference between us, but in the past year or so we've gotten a lot closer. before then our age gap was always a slight problem in being close.

fact tuesday (my home)

*i saw this survey on janel's blog (and some other pretty blogs as well) and thought it would be a cute idea for my fact tuesday feature! so enjoy!!

A- My AIR CONDITIONER is set on: 75 ish

B- My BEDROOM theme is: blue, black, white, and tan.... well im trying to stick to those colors only

C- The CAR in the driveway is: a grey 05 jetta v-dub!

D- My DESK looks: a bit messy. it's a small antique desk, so theres not much room on it and its contstanly cluttered (even though I rarely ever sit there!)

E- The EXACT time I wake up daily is: well, it should be 7, but it's more around 8 :( im horrible i know.

F- The FIRST thing I wash in the shower is: my hair

G- My GARAGE is filled with: everyone's stuff. it's mainly a storage area now for my stuff, my roommates stuff, and some other friends of mine also have put their stuff in it.

H- My HOME is: a condo and i love it!

Right now I’m keeping my eye out for milkglass vases. And cute retro clothes are always on my list!

This is a tough one. I honestly go back and forth with myself on this question from “I wish I could have done _______ differently” to “but if I had, then I wouldn’t be here now.” The truth is there are tons of things I wish I could change, mostly in regards to relationships and how I’ve handled myself in them, but if things had been any different, my life would be different. True, life has ups and downs, but for the most part I like where I am in life and who I’ve become and everything in my past and present has shaped that. So....I guess I wouldn’t change anything (lame answer I know, sorry!)

Formspring questions!! (thanks for asking....Courtney. haha!)

question: How would your friends describe you to someone that doesn't know you?
Gessh, I have no idea. I hope that they would say I’m fun to hang out with, caring and easy to get along with. What I’m afraid they’d also say is that I’m over-emotional, a bit drama at times and I over-analyze way too much.

question: What is your favorite thing / thing you love about yourself?
Physically or internally?
Physically I like my eye color. People always assume that they are so blue from my contacts, but my contacts are clear. :)
Internally I’d have to say that I really try to be a good friend and I go out of my way for people in my life to remind them how much I care for them. I haven’t always been the best at it and I still struggle with it sometimes, but I love that I have the heart for it.

question: What would you say is your biggest flaw?
Just one? Maybe that’s one of my biggest flaws, is that I see too much of the negative instead of the positive in myself. Part of it is afraid of being seen as arrogant or stuck-up another part of it is that I’m kinda insecure. Luckily I do think I’m getting better at this..... somewhat!
Another big flaw of mine is my jealousy. It’s kinda bad and I hate that about me!

question: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
It may seem cheesy, but it’s getting this far in life.... Middle school was complete hell for me for a ton of reasons, but one big one was that my parents were going through an ugly separation. I remember it still to this day. Then, about a year later my dad suddenly passed away. He had been one my best friends... Getting through those events was anything but easy, especially when my family was ripped apart due to it. At the time I really only had my mom and she was still torn apart from the divorce. I was 14 and I had to grow up quickly, but I remember thinking to myself I can go about this one of two ways. I can act out and just wallow in self pity and heartache or I can trust in God, lean on Him and my mom and get through it. It was a long hard road, but I was able to lean on them and I got through it. Nine years later I’m still hurt and dealing with all that happened then, but knowing that I took the high road, that I didn’t just allow myself to give up and become a shell of a person is something I am really proud of. It reminds me now when I’m going through tough crap that I can make it, I can get through it and I will be better because of that. It reminds me that I am strong, not weak!

So, here's the only formspring question I got this week....I'm thinking that I may delete it and do something different for tuesday posts since it hasn't really gotten many hits.....

But as for today, here is a formspring question and some facts:

question: What would you describe your style as?
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure.... my roommate rolled his eyes when I asked his opinion and said, "you're indie. you have a tattoo on your wrist and by the way you dress...you're indie." I guess I'd like to say that my style has become more "indie" meaning more tattoos, layers and funky clothing. I've always liked fashion and style, but never really had one. I just typically wore jeans and a shirt...but after coming into my own and becoming inspired by other people's styles (via blog, flickr, weheartit, lookbook, etc) and taking classes like Elsie and Leigh-Ann's style school class, I think I'm starting to make my own style...finally. I guess you might call it "indie". Whatever it is, I like it, because for once I feel comfortable wearing what I want, which comes in the form of layering and putting random items of clothing together to form an outfit.


Random facts:
I was born 5-5-1987 @ 11:32 CST (and tomorrow I turn 23 :) yippee)

I think 23 sounds better than 22, I don't know why.

I love naps, but this is only a recent thing that I picked up in college. Before that, I despised naps, even in grade school because it meant that I might be missing out on something.

I'm very much a stereotypical taurus and irish girl (stubborn and I've got a temper....)

I typically have way too many projects going on at once. Right now I'm trying to make mobile hangers and pretty clipboards for the youth room at church, work on an artsy journal, create stamps, make birthday and mothers day cards...and the list goes on...which may explain why it's hard for me to get things done.

I'm sure most of you have seen the fill in the blank survey over at Smile and Wave, and perhaps most of you have already done it, but I decided that today would be a perfect time for me to fill out mine! :)

When do you feel the happiest?
When I'm surrounded by loved ones. It's the one time I feel I can be completely myself without any guard having to be up and I can let loose and have fun.


How do you take care of yourself?
I'm pretty bad about this one and the boy would definitely agree. I'm trying to do better, but I still have a long way to go. I have cut down on sodas, but it still doesnt' help that I have a major sweet tooth!


Are you internally (by yourself) or externally (by others) motivated?
I'm a little of both, but truthfully I'm more externally motivated. Browsing blogs, flickr and other sites as well as listening to some good music really helps me to get in a creative mood.


What do you do for fun?
Read, watch movies (I'm a huge netflix junkie), hang out with friends and family, craft, go on photoshoots, shop..... (the list could go on). I guess it helps that I'm easily amused!



What intimidates you?
Large groups of people I don't know, having too much attention focused on me, and meeting people for the very first time.


What is something that you're proud of?
Making it this far in life. :) Being almost ready to graduate college, making the dean's list, being a youth director, and being able to take care of myself financially. Of course, still being in school I do depend on my mom a lot, but the fact that I have taken care of myself as much as I have in the past and present makes me feel really proud and happy.

Favorite vacation spot:
Anywhere different, especially if there's a beach. I loe traveling and I've been fortunate enough to have had some wonderful opportunities to travel different places. I honestly don't think I could pick just one place though, I've loved so many: Berlin, NYC, DC, Krakow, Bahamas, Charleston, any FL beach, Dresden, etc.....

Formspring questions:
Where do you see yourself in five years?
hm.... In 5 years I hope to be happy. Not that I'm not now, but I want to be happy then as well. Ideally, I'd like to be a teacher and in a good, solid relationship. I'm not sure if I'll stay in FL or not though......

What is a typical day for you?
Ok, I'm probably going to be too detailed though.... Honestly, my life right now is very structured, which I kind of like. I'm the type of person that likes order; however, I do sometimes try for something different, I can get tired of the same ole thing ALL the time....

Monday-Friday I'm typically at work between 8-6 (sometimes not as long...)
Mondays- I tutor right after work until about 9. By the time I get home, it's late and I have only a bit of time to catch up on craft things, read or see the boy.
Tuesdays are my girl nights. After work my girl friends come over and we make dinner and hang out. It's one of the best nights of the week!!
Wednesdays after work I typically go straight to my sisters for dinner and hang out time. When I get home it's kinda late and I really only have time to catch up on a few things (or I try to see the boy).
Every-other Thursday I have a church dinner that I go to straight after work. When I don't have that, I try to make plans with friends, my roomie, or the boy. :)
Friday nights and Saturdays are my free time/down time and I treasure them!!
Sunday I teach bible study in the morning before church, hang out with my parents in the afternoon, and then go back to church for youth group that night.
Whew....

Short and sweet......here's a fact that I am super-duper happy to be sharing(!!!!): I just enrolled in my very last class!!! It's a long story as to why I only have 1 class left before graduating college, but I'm FINALLY there. One class and one internship left. :) I'm soooo happy about this I could cry!

My family and i are VERY serious about our food. No joke.
My dad grew up with 3 sisters, a mom and grandmother and since it was a single income family, you can imagine how 3 girls would act..... It's a well known and often told story in my family that one of my aunts stabbed the other in the hand over the last maraschino cherry. They weren't starving ever by any means, but they took (and still do take) their food seriously. You don't go after someone's favorite, or the last...unless you want to get forked in the hand.

So with that said, perhaps its easy to tell that I have some weird food feelings....

*there is a TON of food that I honestly don't like...unless covered in chocolate. (i.e. pretzels, raisins, and strawberries). No chocolate means no thank you!

*I refuse to take the last of anything. A lot of times people have to lie to me and tell me there's more, because I honestly won't even glance at it if there's only one more. (This doesn't apply for food I buy at the store for just me....)

*I share food on my own terms. Sometimes I find it hard to share, while other times I'm pushing people in trying what I have--they just have to have some it's that good.

*On and off since middle school I've had a difficult time with food and eating. A lot of times after I ate (no matter what it was or how much I ate) I would get terrible stomach aches. They hurt so badly that sometimes I couldn't do much of anything after a meal but lie down. Last year I went through a bunch of tests and doctors appointments and finally got the situation solved and under control, but not gonna lie, sometimes I still get the aches. :( Luckily it's no where near what it once was. And the fact that I can eat food again like a normal person makes me feel so happy...of course it's also caused me to gain some weight.....

-i'm ocd about how my dishwasher is filled. no joke -everything has its place and it drives me crazy when the cups are on the wrong side.

-my mom and i went to paris, france when i was about 9 and while there some gypsies tried to buy me


- i loathe salt. i take it off of fries and pretzels.



- i sometimes wake myself up laughing or crying in my sleep.

- i took 3 years of ASL (american sign language) in high school


- i played the flute in middle school (only because my sister did when she was in high school) but my lungs couldnt take it, so i had to sadly switch to percussion

yea...i've def got my quirks. haha!

First off, thank you to everyone that commented on my last post, you have NO idea how awesome your comments made me feel!! Truly, I feel so loved and blessed. :)
Honestly, even though I seem/seemed emo, I'm not. I'm happy, just stressed. But I know that I need to ask for help and figure out how to fix things...and I will. With time and God, I will figure out how to do this 2 job thing. I love everyone I work with and my youth pastor job is amazing. I often leave thinking....I get paid to do this?!?? Thank you lovies for all your sweet thoughts!!

Ok.....so fact Tuesday- I JUST put a formsping thingy up on my blog, so, depending on how many questions I get, I'm going to post them on Fact Tuesdays. :) If I don't have enough questions then I'll go back to the old version of Fact Tuesday.

For real, I hate the gym. I like the feeling I get after I go, but I hate going. I hate that I look all disgusting and sweaty. I hate that I'm so completely tired, but I know I have to keep going. I hate that there are always people there, staring..... I hate my sneakers that make me look like I have giant feet. I hate that I have to take a shower after. I just hate it!
Sadly, I know I need to go. I need the endorphins, I need to work on my health and body.
I made a goal for myself that in 2010 I would go to the gym at least 3 times a week. So far, I've gone once...this year....and it's March. Here is where I put my guilty face on and hide in shame. I want to do better, and slowly I kind of have. I've talked myself into going to the gym all the way home from work, but then as soon as I get to the front door my mind is somewhere else, but at least I was thinking about it on the way home. Before I thought about it at work and as soon as I got in my car to leave the thought of going to the gym was out of my mind. Tonight, I actually put on my gym clothes, although I ended up going to the grocery store instead...... but it's a start, at least I finally put the clothes on...right?????

Oy..... I need some motivation to go! For all of you that are gym go-ers or are good at exercising, how do you do it??? Please share your ideas, and secrets! I'm in desperate need!!!

random fact tuesday (v.7)

Ok.....so I use to think that Tom Selleck was my dad. No joke.



The story: When I was little, there was a show, Magnum PI with Tom Selleck. My mom totally had the hots for him and since he kinda resembled my dad my mom kinda pulled a little prank..... Whenever the show would come on my mom would tell me that my dad was on tv (referring to Tom of course). :) So I would end up rushing to the tv every time the show came on and scream daddy!!! when I saw Tom Selleck. Suffice to say my dad was not too thrilled about it, although my mom thought it was hysterical! Nowadays I find it pretty funny too and I still call him my dad whenever my mom and I are together watching a Tom Selleck show.

fact tuesday (v.6) on FAT TUESDAY!!

Happy fat tuesday!!! (or is it phat??)
Either way, it's mardi gras!!! Actually the name for my tuesday posts started because fact sounded so similar to fat, and of course the tuesday of mardi gras is awesome!!

I realized that I've had this blog for a long time, but never explained the names..... that is my url name and my blog title. While I wish I could take the credit for such an awesome phrase, I can't and must give credit, where credit is due.
They both come from Mae songs. At the time I was in love with the band Mae, and I still really love them. Their love songs are beautiful and they make my heart melt a little.

"On the brink of something beautiful" is taken from Mae's 2nd albulm, The Everglow and is in the song "Ready and Waiting to Fall"

fun fact tuesday (v.5)

i have the biggest crush on Paul McCartney.

there i said it.

ok yes i know he was my age...in the 60's, but he's sooo awesome, even still.
my mom use to sing me "all my loving" as she was putting me to sleep. no lullabies for me, only beatles tunes. while i grew up liking the beatles, it wasn't until i saw a movie about paul and linda that i really had a crush on this hunky bass/guitar player & singer. they seemed so in love and of course, who couldn't love paul with his british accent and mad guitar/bass/singing skills?? haha. oh yea and that tiny tie look :)

So, dear Sir Paul McCartney, if you are out there reading this, you now are aware of a random 20-something year old girl having a crush on you (because that's out of the ordinary right?? ha). but seriously, marry me??? :)
