This Thursday my inspiration interview is with the lovely Margot. :)

I found her blog and flickr around the time I began my blogging adventure and she has been an inspiration to me since then. Her artwork is lovely and constantly eye candy on those days of much needed creative inspiration. I'm a native new yorker with a passion for fashion, art, and coffee! I aspire to be a children's book illustrator and to walk flawlessly in heels.


Favorite craft or hobby?
Definitely photography! I can't leave my apartment without my camera. Like, ever.


What's next for you?
I am currently working on a collage commission and was also commissioned to do some invitations for a 50th birthday. I'm very grateful to have a full time job, as it let's me pick and choose my freelance jobs!

Where do you find inspiration?
My name is margot and I'm a blog/flickr-aholic. I also am inspired by childrens books.

How do you get and stay motivated??
I've always been very driven. I think a lot of artists are. In fact, I think true artists are people with this innate sense of passion. It stems from there!

Where is one place you would LOVE to travel to if you could?
I am dying to go to Greece. Dyyyyiiiiinnnnggg. And I would be lying if I didn't mention that seeing sisterhood of the traveling pants didn't make it my #1 dream travel destination!

Lastly,-Give us 1 random or funny or interesting fact/tidbit about you!!
I prefer my socks to be mismatched :-)

wednesday wishes

this week i am wishing for.....

1. new sunglasses




in the past 2 weeks i've lost 3 pair sof sunglasses in the cruelest of ways..... perhaps i should be more careful....


2. for youth events to come together....we have a yard sale this saturday and a lock in next friday...ekkkkk!!! im really nervous about all the pre-sale work

question: What items are at the top of your list to look for when you go thrifting?
Right now I’m keeping my eye out for milkglass vases. And cute retro clothes are always on my list!

question: What's the one thing you wish you could do over again?
This is a tough one. I honestly go back and forth with myself on this question from “I wish I could have done _______ differently” to “but if I had, then I wouldn’t be here now.” The truth is there are tons of things I wish I could change, mostly in regards to relationships and how I’ve handled myself in them, but if things had been any different, my life would be different. True, life has ups and downs, but for the most part I like where I am in life and who I’ve become and everything in my past and present has shaped that. So....I guess I wouldn’t change anything (lame answer I know, sorry!)

My weekend went by a bit too fast for my liking (it usually does). It was good though and packed...

friday:
-work (ick!!!)
-girl night (i made dinner for the girls and i and we went out for a drink or 2)
-i watched a ton of Greek. (its sad i know, but im obsessed with that show!)

saturday:
-breakfast at the best place in jax (Metro Diner) with a good friend and caught up
-went to a wedding (reception had amazing food, cupcakes, and free bar! woo!!!)
-went out with some friends
-picked up the boy and his friend from the airport
-got rid of the cat ive been cat sitting for the boys bff (who has been a large pain in the ass, but i tried to keep in mind that the cat had been a stray for 3 years prior....long crazy story!!)

sunday:
-worked
-got ready for our youth yard sale (next Saturday!!!)
-roommate moved out!!
-lazied about the house and watched movies and ate cake. (yes im the worst eater EVER)
-saw and hung out with some of my favorite people (including my mom)

today:
work, work, work, work.
oh yes and I have the 5 loves monday post (don't worry i'll be posting it soon!)

inspiration thursday (happy birthday momma!!)

Today is my beautiful mom's birthday and because of that I just HAD to interview her for my inspiration thursday post!

Here's what I asked her:

What's your favorite kind of birthday cake?

Chocolate is my first response, but it really depends on where its from – Edgewood Bakery – you can’t beat the yellow cake with chocolate icing; but I do like chocolate cake with a white butter cream icing from other bakeries. The best one I ever had was your Aunt Vicki’s mom’s chocolate sin cake – peanut butter icing inside the devil’s food cake and rich chocolate fudge icing. She named it chocolate sin because it tasted so good it had to be a sin!

What was your favorite birthday memory?

Probably the first one after you were born – just a tiny baby and we hadn’t been home from the hospital a full week yet! You were the best gift EVER!!

What makes you happy?

Time with you makes me happy – especially when you are happy!

If you were stranded on an island and you could only bring one person with you, who would it be?

You, of course!!!

Where's one place you would love to travel to if you could?

I would LOVE to go to California – it’s on my bucket list. Problem would be narrowing where – I want to see EVERYTHING there!

Out of the country, would be Italy.

Who inspires you?

This is a really hard question. I haven’t felt inspired in a long time. I think Walt Disney inspires me … sounds weird, but the technology at Disney World is amazing! I would love to work there!

oh what a day is today

My day:
"No I'm sorry he's not available, may I take a message?"
"Yes I can set an appointment for you."
"May I get you something to drink while you wait?"

My night:
"Please don't hit your sister."
"Ouch- you just hit/kicked/punched me"
"Awww I love you too!!!"

All in all a normal, but good day. Work was the same, and as always I enjoyed time with my sister in her kids. I get to be the cool aunt/jungle gym/ little sister and I love it! Those kids make me smile and I adore my sister. :)

Then I got home and had sooo many lovely things waiting for me (in the form of mail)!!!!
My bestie Leigh sent me a birthday gift:

the coolest books!! I'm in love. *sigh* And she wrote the sweetest birthday note. :)

Then I also got some pen pal letters and give away package!! WOOOO



I hope you've had a good Wednesday. I'm off to write pen pal letters and watch Greek. Before I go though, I'll leave you with some birthday photos I haven't shared yet......
