Wednesday Wishes

Ah, another Wednesday (although to be honest, I went most of yesterday thinking it was Wednesday). Sad. Perhaps that's partly to do with putting me in a sour this morning... but somehow thinking up a grand list of wishes always makes things a little brighter. :)

This week, I'm wishing:

1. that I could live on a street like this, in a place like this.

2. that i had more time to read
i JUST finished The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo (I'm sure my sister was thrilled to finally get it back) and I started on this book:

the boyfriend kinda poked some fun at me for this one, but let's be honest, sometimes we need a light and funny read. so far i'm not sure how i feel about it though....
3. a photoshoot. and soon. i seriously have a million ideas, but finding the time (and finding people willing) is what has been keeping me from it.
4. that this weather would stay. i absolutely love fall because it's no longer 100 degrees out, but it hasn't hit freezing winter yet. not gonna lie, i hate being cold- so this 60ish weather is perfect!

So what are you wishing for right now??
Don't forget to check out the other gals lists!!!

halloween guest post + GIVEAWAY (with Alycia from the Curious Pug)

Hello Brink readers!
This is Alycia from the curious pug and I'm so happy and honored to have been asked by Kellie to do a guest post over here! So I decided to share some of my Halloween and fall projects (from last year) with you!

Last year my husband and I decided to be Harry and Lloyd from the movie Dumb and Dumber. That movie is one of our favorites. Like, know-every-single-line-and-quote-it-everyday favorite. And it was a perfect costume choice because, well, we are just dorks to the core I guess! Luckily for us there is a costume rental place directly across from our apartment building. So we grabbed the costumes, some black tooth paint (for Lloyd's chipped tooth), and I painted the matching canes! We came in 2nd place for best costume at the Halloween party we went to :)

But before all the Halloween goodness happened, I started decorating our apartment as soon as the weather turned cool. Fall is my favorite time of year. Not too hot, but not freezing cold yet either and lots of pretty colors!

The pumpkin and floral filler is from Michael's, I bought the mini pumpkins from the supermarket, and the pine cones came from outside!

I put this little box (from Michael's, too) of mini pumpkins in our fireplace to make it pretty :)

And every now and then, we like to dress (torture) Cyrus our pug up, and here he is enjoying the fall weather in a hoodie posing next to a yummy Oktoberfest brew!

Thanks to Kellie for letting me share, and I hope you will come http://www.blogger.com/%3Ca%20href= visit me sometime!

Love,
Alycia

Hurry and stop by her blog while she still has an amazing blog giveaway is going on!!! 10 things for 10 bloggers, :) It ends October 9th!

halloween: diy project

Today's project: halloween diy project

Glamed pumpkins. pretty right????

Materials and Tools:
small foam pumpkin
sequin pins or craft glue
sequins or glass beads

Steps:
1. Cover the surface of the pumpkin with sequins or glass beads, attaching them with craft glue or sequin pins. This project could be completed with a fresh pumpkin rather than a foam pumpkin, but a foam pumpkin is preferable because it's much easier to stick with pins than a fresh pumpkin. Plus, it won't spoil so it can be used year after year.
Tip: For a stylish variation, use contrasting colored sequins to spell out letters or to create a design.

source for this awesome idea (because i wish it was mine....but it's not :( boo)
