52 lists in 52 weeks/ list 29

I've been listening to a lot of Christmas music lately. A lot.

One thing that strikes me as odd (and if you have a good explanation, please let me hear it!), but Julie Andrew's song "My Favorite Things" keeps playing. Yes, I love The Sound of Music (probably a little too much) and yes it's a cutesy song, but why is it played this time of year masquerading as a Christmas song?

Although, I guess I should be somewhat thankful for it, since it inspired this week's list....

List 29: My (current) favorite things.

-red essie nail polish (yes i have jumped on the bandwagon and spent way too much money on nailpolish that is absolutely amazing

-haystack treats made by my aunt

-my christmas sock monkey from my bestie

-forehead kisses from Steven

-shopping dates with my mom

-white chocolate raspberry mochas from sbux

- reading some of my favorite all time blogs like this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one.

-and finding new and awesome blogs to read like this one and this one.

-the book Eat Pray Love (which I just finished and loved)!

-preparing for Christmas with advent ideas- like building a gingerbread house (picures to come)

-movie/pizza nights at home in bed

-white roses (the only kind i like)

-christmas songs (old and new)

-dinner and shopping dates with girl friends (like Jenn)

moats and boats and waterfalls

This week has felt so off to me. Perhaps it's because the end of the school before the holidays is near (as in 2 days). Or maybe it's because I'm not ready for Christmas to be here yet. Or maybe because just like my students, I take time to adjust to new and different schedules. Or maybe it's that there has been so much going on lately. Or maybe I'm just weird.

Last week we cat and dog sat, I helped put up 2 Christmas trees (and both works), I tried to get Christmas cards together, I read tons of Eat Pray Love (which is amazing, by the way), and I tried not to get bogged down by the negative stuff going on. Not to say life hasn't been good, it has, but I feel that I am one of those people that always lets the bad overrun the good. I hate that. And I don't know if it took Steven saying something or me reading Eat Pray Love, or if it was just an inner thing, but I finally realized that I can and need to change that aspect of myself.

Let me just write a side note here to say how strange it feels to be sharing this on such a public forum (especially since I try really hard to keep my blog a "positive thinking" place). However, in a way I feel like if I own up to it, I will finally be forced to change this habit. I'll be given accountability. And maybe this time next year when I'm looking back at old blog posts I'll be able to point and laugh at my old self who was more of a pessimist.

So that's life in a nutshell (and in instagram photos, haha).

52 lists in 52 weeks// week 28

Week 28 list: Dream gift list
Okay, so Christmas is right around for the corner, which means its time to get shopping. This is something I am not the best at, because every time I try to shop for my loved ones I always end up finding cute stuff for myself (selfish I know). But the good side comes out and I usually just gawk and don't buy. However, I also remember to put those awesome goodies on my "I would like" list that I give to my parents and boyfriend. However, there are just some things that I cannot put on that list, because they are too....extravagant. Or I simply just don't think I could pull it off. So..... I decided to have fun with those items and make a fun list for our week 28.
This week, the idea for our list is to make a list of the dream items you want, but just aren't feasible (at least for now). Just because we can't buy/ask for these things, doesn't mean we have to forget them, right?!?
So here is my list and I can't wait to see everyone else's.

1. these awesome oxfords.
and they are on my list, because 1-i cant seem to find a pair that fits/is exactly what i want and 2- im afraid that this is a look i cant pull off...so i shall just look at pretty photos of them....

found here

2. to one day be at least half as beautiful as a bride as Grace Kelly was.
she is seriously one of my fashion icons and as a bride, she was gorgeous.

3. to travel to a place like this.
if only money werent a problem.

found here

4. to have a dining room like this.

5. to have heels like these.
the only problem is (okay, there are 2)...1-i feel like im already too tall and 2-i have no where to wear them to. wearing them to be with 4 year olds at work wont work and i dont go out anywhere that would suit them.

6. a super cute doggie like this one.
right now i live in an apartment (with a boyfriend that isnt exactly found of dogs) so its kind of out of the question. however, when i buy a house (maybe....one day....) i will get a dog. and i cant wait!

getting to know you

Every once and awhile I change my blog posts to be about you instead of me. Sometimes I feel like the blogworld can be a bit impersonal. So to avoid this happening, I try to every once in a while put out a little questionnaire. I figure it's not only a good way to get to know those of you that stop by my blog, but I also am in love with questions and lists (in case you haven't noticed).
So whether you are stopping by here for the first time, or you've been a follower for awhile, if you have a minute, please answer my little survey/questionnaire. (And a big thank you in advance!!)

Questions about YOU:
-What state/country do you live in?
-What's your favorite thing about winter?
-What's one thing you absolutely must do before you die? (think bucket list)
-What's your faovite holiday food?
-What's your favorite thing about this blog?
-What's your least favorite thing about this blog? (be honest!)

Thanks everyone!! And stay tuned....I'm thinking about having a holiday giveaway very soon!!
