Hi there everyone! My name's Liz and I run the blog EV Photo Chic. I feel like so much of fall decor is dedicated to the outdoors So I set out to create a fall decor that you can enjoy
while you cozy up indoors. I'm so excited to bring this DIY fall garland tutorial and I hope you get as much fun putting this together as I did! Happy crafting ;)
materials:
Step 1: Gather all your materials together. Feel free to use whatever colored card stock and tape you have in your supplies.
Step 2: Decide how many paper pinwheels and tracing paper pinwheels you wish to include in your garland. For my garland (11ft long) I made an assortment of 7 tracing paper pinwheels and 6 paper pinwheels.
It's your choice to decide how many you'd like to make. Both of these pinwheels are created using accordion folds. So curl up with a good movie and fold away!
How to make the paper pinwheel:
Step 1: Select a 4x4 piece of colored card stock (select seasonal colors to get into the spirit of fall).
Step 2: Create accordion folds through the length of the paper. Make sure to keep your folds even in width.
Step 3: Fold paper in half.
Step 4: Use your craft glue and adhere the middle together to create a semi circle.
Place a clothes pin in the middle to help hold the paper together. Set aside and let dry.
Step 5: Repeat steps 1-4, to create 2 more semi circles.
Step 6: Glue all 3 semi circles together. Yay, you've just created a paper pinwheel!
How to make a paper & tape pinwheel:
Step 1: Take a piece of tracing paper and crumple it up. Unfold and lay flat.
Step 2: Arrange any colored or craft tapes that you'd like across the tracing paper as shown.
Step 3: Create accordion folds through the length of the paper. Make sure to keep your folds even in width.
Step 4: Fold paper in half.
Step 5: Use your craft glue and adhere the middle together to create a semi circle.
Place a clothes pin in the middle to help hold the paper together. Set aside and let dry.
(Step 6- Optional): Use a paper punch on the edges to add a fun touch. You've just created a paper & tape pinwheel!
Putting it all together:
Cut your cotton string to the estimated length of your garland, leaving a few extra inches on each side. Use your paper punch to punch holes in the tops of your
tracing paper pinwheels and within 2 folds of the colored card stock pinwheels. Lay out all your pinwheels to determine how you will string them onto the cotton string.
Arrange your garland as you like, find a place to hang, sit back and enjoy your chic indoor fall decor!
This would also work as a great party, holiday, or any special occasion decor! Happy fall everyone :)
