365 (january)

My first month (and attempt) at the 365 project.
So here is January with a photo a day.

thank God for girl friends

"I get by with a little help from my friends."
( A great song that captures exactly how I feel.)

I love my girl friends. And I seriously do thank God for them oh so often. Whether they are emailing/pen-pal/ or face to face friends, I cherish our relationships.

There are just some things that only girl friends can do. And sometimes it take another girl, a girl who knows you (and loves you anyway) to get you. To talk to. To play along with your silliness... like oh I don't know, say watching the Gossip Girl royal wedding episode, while dressing up and drinking some champagne.....

Even my mom is such a good girl friend.
And I love these women for who they are and who they are to me.

They help me to figure out what's important and what is just silly and needs to be thrown away.

Heck, even in Sex and the City the gals were known for their quotes like Maybe our girlfriends are our soul mates and guys are just people to have fun with.
And
She is my friend. She's my family. My insides. She will be fine because she has to be fine. That's how important she is to me.

So thank you gals, both in photos above and those that are pictured. Because without you, I wouldn't be as sane (nor happy) as I am.

so much love,
kellie

mix cd swap- you know you wanna join!

I don't know about you, but I use to love mix tapes. They were the bomb-digity.
I also love mix cds.

In fact some of my pen pals and I have swapped before. Lately I've been playing them and thinking "Why not make my own cd swap???"

I mean c'mon, who doesn't love a good variety of music that is not their own? Sometimes I get tired of listening to the same stuff and I want variety. So this idea (to me) is perfect.

Here's the jist.... to sign up for a mix cd from a random [new] pal:
1. just email me at kellz0505@gmail.com with your name and mailing address.

2. email me by february 11th. *DATE UPDATED!!!
(I'll start partnering people up then, and you'll get an email letting you know who you'll be swapping with).

I really hope that some of you out there are as excited about this idea as I am!!! Because I can't wait to start making playlists and swapping new music with yall!!!
So don't forget to pass the word on AND sign up!!!

52 lists in 52 weeks/ list 34

Confession: I've been watching a lot of tv lately. Too much, probably. But it's not like I just sit around on the couch watching whatever is on....oh no, I've been catching up on Castle. I show that until a week or 2 ago I had never seen.

It was Steven's idea. And now, he, my roommate and I are hooked. (Turns out my mom and step dad love it too).

And like most of my lists, my everyday life got me inspired....

List 34 (part a): Shows I love and watch almost religiously.
Castle (as of late)
Gossip Girl
Gilmore Girls
I Love Lucy
Boy Meets World
Chuck
How I Met Your Mother
The Bachelor/ Bachelorette
Sex and the City
Weeds
Dexter

List 34 (part b): Shows I want to start watching.
Mad Men (I only got through the first couple before)
Bones
My So-Called Life
Felicity (because I only watched the last season)

Your turn!
And don't forget to comment with a link to your post so that I can maybe add a few to my list!!!!

yikes!

Realization: for the past 5 months I have been working 50 hour work weeks.
I'm exhasuted.
And suffice to say, I am really looking forward to vacation in 2 weeks. I just need a break from life. Don't get my wrong, I do like my life, a lot. But working so much has taken a lot out of me. And well, to be honest, I've never been a work-aholic. Sure I put a lot of effort in what I'm doing (for the most part), but work isn't my life. I like to enjoy other things too. And I guess lately I've felt like I've been working so much (10 hour days here people) that when I get home (and maybe go to the gym and do dinner) I'm exhausted. All I want to do is read until I fall asleep (which doesn't take long).
But I gots to pay the bills..... yay for being a grown up (who's with me?) haha...

Dear Aaron Rodgers...

Okay Aaron,
As much as I love you and find you incredibly attractive (and since Steven is well aware of this, I can admit it online), I'm a bit disappointed. You had almost a perfect season (okay you and your team) and while I understand losing a few games or so, this last game was just a disgrace. Besides being the only team at the playoffs that lost on their home turf, you were suppose to go to the Super Bowl and beat some asses again!
But I still have faith for next year. And I'm still totally in love with you (don't worry!).

52 lists in 52 weeks// week 33

A few days late...
But this week's list: recipes I need to make!
Here's mine (mostly all found from pinterest).

In honor of MLK day

A great man- a great quote.

in a couple of of weeks.......

I will be skiing. Although, there is a slight chance I won't quite look as graceful/awesome as in the photo above.... I'll probably look more like this:

But I'm okay with that.

As long as I don't run into any ditches or trees this time. (Yea...that happened).

recipe//apple glazed chicken

I found an awesome recipe online and decided to make my own version of it. Surprisingly, it turned out amazing. Therefore, I'm sharing. Enjoy!

Apple Glazed Chicken:

Ingredients:
-2 cups apple juice
-1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
-1/3 tbsp nutmeg
- 1/3 tbsp cloves (optional for extra flavor)
-2/3 cup maple syrup
-1 apple, sliced
-2/3 pieces of chicken
-pecans (optional)

Recipe:
1. Bring apple juice to a boil, adding in spices, maple syrup, and apple slices. You may also add pecans now if youre going to use them.
2. Pre-heat oven to 375.
3. Keep at a medium-high heat for about 10 minutes.
4. Put chicken at the bottom of a oven-safe bowl.
5. Once apple juice mixture is finished, add it to the chicken. Make sure chicken is well covered.
6. Bake for 30 minutes, or until chicken is done.

Ready to eat!

Hope you like it as much as we did!
